Temperature Control Probe
1. The temperature control probe is the nerve center and brain of the
electric Griddle. Treat it carefully. Dropping or banging it could change
its calibration and make the temperature settings inaccurate.
2. Rotate the dial to select the temperature as called for in the recipe.
3. The indicator light on the temperature control probe will illuminate
as soon as the dial is rotated. The light will go out once the selected
temperature has been reached.
4. Allow the Griddle to cool before removing the temperature
control probe.
5. To clean the temperature control probe, simply wipe down with a soft,
damp cloth. Make sure you dry it thoroughly before using again.
NOTE: The temperature control probe is not submersible.
CAUTION: Use the temperature control probe supplied with this
Griddle only. The use of any other temperature control probe may cause
fire, electric shock, or injury.
Before Using for the First Time
1. Carefully unpack the Griddle and remove all packaging materials.
2. Place the non-stick Griddle on a clean, flat working surface.
NOTE: Some countertop and table surfaces, such as Corian® and other
surfaces, are not designed to withstand the prolonged heat generated
by this Griddle. We recommend placing a hot pad or trivet under the
Griddle beforehand to avoid possible damage to the surface. Be sure the
sides and back of the Griddle are at least 4 inches away from any walls,
cabinets, or objects on the counter or table.
3. Before first use, see Hints For Care and Use of Non-Stick Surface
and Care & Cleaning Instructions sections of this Instruction Manual.
4. Before cooking in the Griddle for the first time, wash the non-stick
Griddle in mild dishwashing soap, wipe and allow to dry.
NOTE: The Griddle (without the temperature control probe)
is dishwasher safe.
5. Insert drip tray into rails under the Griddle’s side, positioned directly
under the grease drain.
6. Reach under the Griddle to extend the grill tilt lever. (See Figure 1.) The
Bella Grill Griddle Instructions
left side of the Griddle will be tilted towards the grease drain. This will
allow grease to drain from the food into the drip tray.
7. Turn the temperature control knob on probe to OFF position and attach
securely in place.
8. Coat the non-stick surface with vegetable shortening before heating. If
necessary, remove excess oil with paper towel.

To Use as a Press Grill (Closed Position)
NOTE: When cooking more than one piece of food, prepare so that the thickness of food items
is consistent. This will allow food to cook quickly, evenly and produces rich grill marks both top
and bottom.

Make sure food is centered on the grill plate.
3. Using a potholder or oven mitt, pull down the arm and gently lower the top grill plate. The floating hinge
will automatically adjust to the thickness of the food. Press the handle down firmly, then turn the grill plate
lock clockwise to secure. (fig. 4)

Panini Preparation: Sandwich Assembly
To prepare delicious pressed sandwiches, follow these simple steps. It is customary to prepare panini from
a hearty loaf of bread. However, panini made from store-bought sliced breads or rolls can be delicious and
simple to prepare. Experiment with a variety of breads, tortillas, flatbreads, even pitas. For health-conscious
cooks, the non-stick coating of the grill plates assures crisp and delicious toasting without the use of oil or
butter. The raised ridges and tilted bottom plate allow grease, fat and other drippings to run off away from
your food and into the drip tray.
1. Assemble panini. Brush or wipe both sides of the outside of the sandwich with olive oil, butter or
margarine (optional). When the blue READY light illuminates, the Panini Grill is ready to use.
2. Follow steps 1 through 5 of the Operating Instructions section entitled: “To Use as a Contact Grill (Open
Position)” described previously.
3. To ensure perfectly grilled panini, all sandwiches placed on the Panini Grill at the same time must be the
same thickness. Look to make sure that the top grill plate lies evenly on the top of the bread. Make sure
sandwiches are centered on the grill plate.
4. Using a potholder or oven mitt, pull down the arm and gently lower the top grill plate. The floating hinge
will automatically adjust to the thickness of the sandwiches. Press the handle down firmly, then turn the
grill plate lock clockwise to secure.
5. Adjust temperature control dial as needed. During grilling, the blue READY indicator light will cycle on and
off during cooking. This indicates that the thermostat is maintaining the proper cooking temperature.
NOTE: The raised ridges and tilted bottom plate allow cheese, fat, and other drippings to run off away
from your panini and into the drip tray.
6. Turn the grill plate lock counter-clockwise to unlock. Using an oven mitt or potholder, grasp the handle
and carefully lift the top grill plate. Continue grilling until the bread is toasted and food is cooked to
your liking.
7. To remove your grilled panini sandwiches, always use a plastic or wooden spatula.
WARNINg: Never use a sharp or metal object as it may damage the non-stick surface of the grill plates.
CAUTION: Do not leave appliance unattended during use!
8. Allow panini to cool to a safe handling temperature before slicing.
Panini Hints for Best Results
• Turn the temperature control dial to HIGH to preheat the Panini Grill before each use.
• Have all ingredients at hand before preparing panini.
• A wide variety of breads may be used, such as whole wheat, rye, fruit breads, tortillas, flatbreads,
even pitas.
• With the Panini Grill’s non-stick grill plates, it is not necessary to butter or oil the outside of the bread.
However, spreading a small amount of butter or olive oil is recommended
to encourage even browning of the bread.
• NOTE: The Panini Grill is coated with a non-stick surface. Do not use non-stick sprays as they can cause
build-up on the grill plates. Use olive oil instead.
• WARNING: Do not use non-fat spreads. They may burn and damage the non-stick grill plates.
