Epiphone Ft 130 Serial Numbers
21.12.2019
- The Caballero was a unique design for Epiphone and fit right in with the times as the folk music era was taking off. Though the Caballero stayed in production through the next decade and even longer as the FT-130, the 1964 Caballero in particular has long been a player’s and collector’s favorite.
- A friend of mine has been hot on old Gibson-made Epiphone Texans but, for kicks, he bought himself this Japan-import Epiphone instead. 1972 was the first year of production for the FT-145 and it's, more or less, a typical import dreadnought from the time - entirely ply in the body, sporting a bolt-on neck, and fitted with an adjustable saddle and zero fret.
- The Epiphone serial number decoder currently supports 12 serial number formats from 25 factories. Vintage numbers from 1932 to 1970 are supported. Serial numbers from 70' and 80's era Epiphone guitars made in Japan are not supported. The reason for this is that there is no reliable documentation from this time period.
- Jul 07, 2016 I have an Epiphone that was given to me, that has the model name blacked out and handwritten says FT-130 MPL. The stamped serial number is 07780013. The rest of the label is like that in your photo with the Norlin, Made in Japan, etc. Labeling It doesn't have the metal, letter E symbol on the front. I am trying to price it for sale.
- NOTE – Gibson USA goes to a 9 digit serial number in early July 2005. The sixth number is now a batch number- batch 0 starts at the beginning of the day, and once we stamp 699, the batch number will change to 1. The first 5 numbers remain the same, the last 3 numbers will remain the same. The only difference is the addition of this batch.
