A decade ago, Deepak Chopra, M.D., wrote Perfect Health, the first practical guide to harnessing the healing power of the mind, which became a national bestseller. The book described how breakthroughs in physics and medicine were underscoring the validity of a 5,000-year-old medical system from ancient India known as Ayurveda ('the knowledge of life span' in Sanskrit). Perfect Health went on to describe how to apply the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda to everyday life. In celebration of this classic work we have created this new edition, revised and updated to include the latest medical research.
Although we experience our bodies as solid, they are in fact more like fires that are constantly being consumed and renewed. We grow new stomach linings every five days, for instance. Our skin is new every five weeks. Each year, fully 98 percent of the total number of atoms in our bodies is replaced. Ayurveda gives us the tools to intervene at this quantum level, where we are being created anew each day. Ayurveda tells us that freedom from sickness depends on contacting our own awareness, bringing it into balance, and then extending that balance to the body.
Perfect Health provides a complete step-by-step program of mind body medicine tailored to individual needs. A quiz identifies the reader's mind body type: thin, restless Vata; enterprising, efficient Pitta; tranquil, steady Kapha; or any combination of these three. This body type becomes the basis for a specific Ayurvedic program of diet, stress reduction, neuromuscular integration, exercise, and daily routines. The result is a total plan, tailor-made for each individual, to reestablish the body's essential balance with nature; to strengthen the mind body connection; and to use the power of quantum healing to transcend the ordinary limitations of disease and aging—in short, for achieving Perfect Health.

As I was reading this all of the practices mentioned seemed vaguely familiar. It dawned on me that I saw this book in my great grandmothers bookshelf when I was a teenager, and I watched her practice Ayurveda (yoga, meditation, the specialized diet for each season, the herbal compounds and teas) almost my entire life. I didn't know that's what she was doing. I just thought she was my weird grandma. She lived a very long, active, and healthy life. She was absolutely gorgeous and intelligent until..more
Anxious to learn more about Ayurveda, I found this book to be a wealth of information and a definite reference for the future. For me, this book was a great starting point into this amazing Eastern India concept. This is certainly a place to start if you are interested in learning more about the practices of Ayurveda.
I did notice, after completing a Metabolic Typing course that the Ayurvedic approach lists foods that my metabolic type differed from on a wide scale. For me, it goes back to listen

Relieved to be done! This book has been on my 'to-do' list since May. I appreciate many of the concepts Dr. Chopra stands by-- 'our bodies are rivers, constantly changing.. anything in the body can be changed with the flick of an intention'. I enjoyed the basic run down of pranayama and yoga poses as well.
That said, I think the idea of the mind-body types, or doshas and their associated qualities seem to me, very subjective. The majority of the book encouraged expensive and time consuming Ayur

Let me start off by saying that I actually believe the teachings of Deepak Chopra, Aruyveda, yoga and all that good stuff. I try to integrate these learning into my life. However, I just could not read this book, and was reminded why I do not like self-help books. Too repetitive. Lacks a compelling story. Too wishy-washy. I guess I will stick to fiction.

It’s a book written for the west exhaustively explaining the ayurveda system. For Indian readers many chapters seems basic. But this is a good read on healthy living.
My sister has recently gotten me interested in the field of Ayurveda, which many refer to as the medical side of yoga. In fact, it's an ancient Indian healing philosophy that strikes to balance the various doshas of the body. Each person is a combination of the three doshas (vata, pitta, kapha), and knowing your own constitution can help you to make decisions about diet, exercise, daily routines, and so forth. Chopra vehemently believes that you can attain perfect health -- even put off aging --..more

Perfect
I actually read the original Perfect Health not the revised version......it is a wonderful philosophy on how to live by your dosha. He stresses yoga, meditatiion, routines, diet for each dosha. I have referred to this book many times over the years and it helps me to get out of a mood/obstacle i'm facing. It's been so helpful......

Recommends it for: anyone interested in ayurveda and holistic health
A great introduction to Ayurveda and easy to read. I found this helpful before going on a weekend Ayurvda retreat at the Laughing Lotus center in NYC. I've also gone to Chopra's Dream Center in the city and taken meditation and yoga..very relaxing!
Great intro to ayurvedic health principles and just makes you feel good reading it!
I recently developed a somewhat random interest in Ayurveda, the Hindu system of medicine that focuses on a balanced diet, herbs, and breathing techniques. I was looking for a book to give me a basic overview of the practice, and this book overwhelmingly seemed to be the choice for a western newbie. The foundation is this concept that our body is made up of three doshas, that when out of balance cause us to be unhealthy. Each person has a dosha that is dominate, and in order to be truly healthy,..more

An interesting, entry level look at Aryuvedic Medicine and how to apply it in your own life.
Readers are given a multiple choice test to see which of the three body types, or Doshas (or combinations there of) apply to them.
The chapters that follow give suggestions of what to do if you find yourself suffering from ill health, which is thought to be caused by an imbalance in one of the Doshas. These suggestions include dietary suggestions and lifestyle changes one could employ to regain one's bal

I didn’t know much about Ayurvedic traditional approach to health and the body. This book is giving a good overview of the field. It can also serve as practical guide to the reader that might be interested in getting some techniques to improve his daily life and health.
It feels like a good introductory guide to Ayurvedic wisdom.

A quick dive into Maharishi Ayurveda and our quantum bodies. Great information on how our doshas affect how our bodies perceive the world as well as suggestions on how to keep them in balance through what we eat, how we eat, our attitudes and how it's all intertwined. Discusses yoga, primordial sound, aromatherapy, and many other ancient ways of keeping ourselves balanced.

This was a great book that confirmed so much of what I have discovered about self-care over the years. I was only superficially aware of the Ayurvedic science of healthcare. Chopra does a good job of explaining it and tying all the different piecs together while reassuring the reader that they do not need to memorize everything.

Enlightening information about Ayurveda and how it works. I'm not convinced that it is totally for me, and I felt either the test needed to be more specific, or perhaps I am one with a bigger balance of all three doshas (which they say is rare), but I definitely can tell my dominant type and will try some of the ancient methods of balancing things for better health.
Deepak Chopra is gifted charlatan who preys on the weak-minded and gullible. Included in this group are a few “celebrities” and talk-show hosts who propagate this nonsense to their sheep-like followers. Being the adept con man that he is he throws in scientific jargon to hide his profound ignorance.

This is the first book of his I have read since his much earlier ones. It was a gift and I find I still enjoy his writing style and appreciate his no nonsense approach to the body-mind connection. This is a book to digest, not read in a hurry. I refer back to it often.
I just re-read this book and it is truly life changing. These little intuitive changes in your life can make a huge difference. An excellent intro to Ayurveda. I’m sold and moving on. Ready for A deeper dive..
I like dr. Chopra's way of writing, it is very umderstandable for someone who is new to ayurveda, but it still covers a lot of information. A very positive book about how to live an enjoyable and healthy life, i would recommand reading it if you are into general health stuff or ayurveda
After reading 'Quantum Healing' by Deepak Chopra, I purchased this book and was not disappointed. It helped me in my stage of life where I needed to change my lifestyle and mindset if I was to survive.
Only skimmed it and didn’t agree with body type assessments and more.

Read it. Try and follow the advice. Stop going to doctors and going bankrupt.
Very useful and interesting concept about your own body and more.
The book became a little repetitive so it lost my interest. My favorite part was the real life cases!

This is a good intro to Aryuvedic medicine. However, I'd be curious to meet the people who have been cured of ailments through Aryuvedic medicine. I fully believe that a plant-based diet rids one of many ailments, but I'm somewhat skeptical about the simplification of every universal process into three energies. It sure is an interesting way to look at the universe, but it varies so much that I'd imagine it's hard to keep them in balance.
I qualify as a vata, and I'm not so excited about the exer

Deepak Chopra has the most in depth approach to Ayurveda that I've found so far. The quiz at the start of the book used to identify your personal Dosha balance and 'type' is incredibly accurate and the steps outlined for balancing and maximizing your potential were hugely helpful for me. The book is more or less tailored to the individual reading it, and all of my friends and family who I forced to take the test were equally surprised at how accurate the results were. The book has very little re..more

I think this book is a nice introduction to Ayurvedic Medicine. You can have an idea about the doshas and he gives some meditation, yoga and pranayama technics.
I just wouldn't call the quantum stuff that he writes a scientific thing. It's still a philosophy and a point of view on how our body and mind work and, for me, it makes sense.
Someone posted on reviews that this book is full of commin sense. Well, I think health is about common sense: eat better (more and different types vegetables, for

Super Brain Deepak Chopra Pdf

“Yet, at the quantum level, NO part of the body lives apart from the rest. There are no wires holding together the molecules of your arteries, just as there are no visible connections binding together the stars in a galaxy. Yet arteries and galaxies are both securely held together, in a seamless, perfect design. The invisible bonds that you cannot examine under a microscope are quantum in nature; without this 'hidden physiology,' your visible physiology could not exist. It would never have been more than a random collection of molecules.” — 2 likes
